Megan Quitkin has spent nearly two decades working as a writer, editor, and communications strategist, helping founders, philanthropies, and social justice organizations tell their stories, build bold brands, and develop creative and editorial content that catalyzes change. Based in New York City, she spent 2023 consulting for the Ford Foundation, serving as the office of communications’ acting managing editor and lead writer. She began her career as a journalist covering culture—everything from people, prose, and products to film and fashion—before pivoting to work with purpose-driven leaders.

Writing across six continents, she has documented countless forms of inequality and the movements striving for justice. Her subjects have included everyone from the father of India’s green revolution to Beyoncé to people whose stories are too seldom told—farmers contending with climate change, formerly enslaved people advocating for improved education and professional opportunities, and survivors of child marriage and other forms of gender-based violence.

Megan has also created copy for the Filmmakers Legal Clinic and written extensively on public health. In addition to technical policy papers, she has drafted speeches for private sector leaders, politicians like Secretary Clinton and Graça Machel, and journalists including Christiane Amanpour. At the Global Business Coalition on HIV/AIDS, she served as the chief writer for the late Ambassador Richard Holbrooke, drafting his talking points, speeches, and op-eds on AIDS strategy and testing.
